Market Time

Day 5: Still no sun!

Today after class, we took a trip to one of the many markets here in Beijing. I'm not sure what I expected, but I was not prepared for the seven floors of endless vendors. This market was primarily selling clothing ranging from traditional Chinese dresses to fake Burberry Trench Coats but there were also shoes, bags, jewelry, and endless souvenirs. It was amazing to see the phenomenal amount of knock-offs all of which looked very well made including designers, silk, and I'm pretty sure all the jade I saw was all fake.

This shop seemed to be the only one in the market that we were sure carried real silk which you could pick out to have made into any dress, shirt, or suit you can imagine. As a side note, the sales girls at this shop were very interested to chat with us and were drooling over my Blackberry (which has my phrasebook and currency converter on it). It seems the phone is not available here and they thought it was "so beautiful" and all of their boyfriends want one.
