Train to Xi'an

Our program moves locations for a week and today we took an overnight train to Xi’an where we were able to see a lot of the country side.

We were warned that the train was noisy, smelly and crazy. However, I have to say it was a great experience, comfortable sleeper beds, and only the bathroom area was smelly. An interesting note would be the dining car experience where we went to have a drink. There was no bartender working and instead a woman (who I’m pretty sure was not part of the train staff) was selling warm beers from under a table in the dining car and thankfully one of the Chinese students handed the transaction for us since it seemed to be a complex negotiation.
